Online Estate Auctions in Southeast Denver

An online estate auction lets your family sell a parent’s belongings without opening the house to the public. Buyers bid from home, and the highest bid wins.

Caring Transitions of Denver Southeast runs online estate sales for Denver families on CT Bids, an auction platform only Caring Transitions offers. If you need to sell estate items online, our team handles the photos, listings, and buyers, so you don’t have to.

How online estate auctions work

We start with a free consultation at the home to see what’s there and whether an auction makes sense. If it does, our team sorts, photographs, and catalogs each item, then lists them on CT Bids.

CT Bids has run online estate sales for more than a decade. Bidding on every item starts at $1, and buyers can join from anywhere. When the auction closes, winners collect their items at a set pickup time, and the house never opens for browsing.

Photos make a big difference in what an item sells for. Caring Transitions recognized one of our early auctions for its item photography and strong sale results.

Why bidding often beats a price tag

At an in-person sale, shoppers usually try to negotiate prices down. Online, they compete with each other instead.

That competition is how a piece of art that sat unsold at $250 in person later went for $1,000 on CT Bids. It’s also why we typically sell at least 95% of what we list.

The tradeoff is that no one controls the final price. Anne is upfront about it: “We can’t control the price because all of our bidding starts at $1, but we know we’re going to be able to liquidate the items.”

What sells best online

Some items reliably draw strong bids. These include 14-carat gold jewelry, sterling silver, collectible coins, original art, antique and mid-century modern furniture, and retro pieces you can’t buy new anymore.

In Anne’s words, “If somebody has those unique pieces, then we know we’ve got a good auction.”

Everyday furniture from big retailers rarely draws much interest online. If that’s most of what’s in the home, an in-person estate sale is often the better fit, and we’ll tell you so.

Online estate auction FAQs

Do buyers come into the house?

No. All bidding happens online, so buyers only stop by to collect what they’ve won.

What happens to anything that doesn't sell?

Most items sell. For the few that don’t, we can donate what’s still usable and clear out the rest of the home.

Can we combine an auction with an in-person sale?

Yes. Some families sell everyday items in person and send the standout pieces to auction. We’ll recommend the right mix for what’s in the home.
